(Running Linux from 1994-2018)
Fall 2022 MAT225 Lecture 101:
OK, this week was a bit short due to Labor Day on Monday so we only got to meet on Wednesday 9/7/2022. However, I think we got off on the right foot!
First things first, we went over some important points in the syllabus as outlined in my last blog post and how to navigate our Blackboard site.
Next, we had a brief Elementary Calculus Review on Limits at a Point and Limits at Infinity involving Rational Functions and L'Hopital's Rule. We even introduced Jupyter Notebooks doing algebra and graphing with sympy! Sympy will be our CAS (Computer Algebra System) this semester. We will also be using Colab this semester emulating Jupyter in the cloud: GCP (Google Compute Platform).
Elementary Calculus FILK:
Last, but not least, we started going over Chapter 13 topics related to 2D and 3D Vectors: Summation, Difference, Scalar Multiplication, Dot Products and Cross Products.
Next week we will devote Monday 9/12/2022 and Wednesday 9/14/2022 to completing topics from Chapters 13 & 14 about Vectors, Matrices and 3D Graphs!
Last, but not least, remember this unit's mascot, Tux the Penguin of Linux fame, is here to cheer you on!
That's it for now. I hope you find this note is helpful and I hope that you will learn a lot this semester in my class!
Be well,
