MAT225: Week02 of Unit02 Partial Derivatives!

MAT225: Week02 of Unit02 Partial Derivatives!

Dear Students, (Week02 of Unit02)

We finally finished most of UNIT02 Partial Derivatives this week. Yeah! I'm not used to this leasurely pace. Last summer we covered one unit and had one test every week, not every 3 weeks. Anyway, on Tuesday February 16th we covered the remaining concepts of this unit: S-V-A ReviewNew Chain Rule, Gradients, Tangent Planes and LaGrange Multipliers.

Then we reviewed our CHAP15 homework assignments on Thursday February 18th. Here's some highlights from our HWK02 review:

15.1 Level Curves: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp927-928 2/9/2021

15.2 Limits: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp937-938 2/10/2021

15.3 Partials: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp948-949 2/11/2021

15.4 Chain Rule: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp958-959 2/12/2021

15.5 Gradients: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp970-971 2/13/2021

15.6 Tangent Planes: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp980-981 2/15/2021

15.7 Optimization: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp993-994 2/16/2021

15.8 LaGrange: Read Section, Complete Practice Exercises pp1002-1003 2/17/2021

Next week you get a well deserved break. Please ignore the Zoom schedule which lists meetings for this coming week. I will see you again on Tuesday March 2nd for our preTest2A review and Thursday March 4th for Test2B.

We start UNIT03 Iterated Integrals Thursday Marth 11th. I bet you can't wait! Don't forget, we don't meet Tuesday March 9th as you have your Evening Activity Hour.

BTW, Don't forget our Elementary Calculus Review FILKs!

In recent years our independent study class has been about the care and feeding of Linux Clusters: How to Build A Cluster, How To Program A Cluster and What Can We Do With A Cluster?

BTW, Shadowfax is the name of the cluster we build! FYI, we offer 4 computing courses:

CSH: Computer Science Honors with an introduction to coding in Python using SAGE, IDLE, VIDLE and Trinket

CSA: AP Computer Science A using CS50, this IDE and this IDE and OpenProcessing

CSI: Computing Science Independent Study using OpenMPI and

CSL: Computing Science Lab which is a co-requisite for Calculus students using Computer Algebra Systems such as SAGE.
